What to do in Da Lat

Visit the Da Lat waterfall

Due to its mountainous enclave, in the surroundings of Da Lat we can visit several waterfalls, which is more beautiful and impressive. The best thing is that many of them are in the vicinity of the city which makes it easy to visit. You can not miss visiting the Datanla Waterfalls, the Prenn Waterfalls, the Pongour Waterfalls and the Voi Waterfalls.

Visit the Xuan Huong Lake and the Flower Garden

Located in the same city, the Xuan Huong Lake is the center of leisure in the city. Always visited by couples, the lake is ideal for strolling at dusk and getting to know a little the daily life of the local people. In one of its ends we can visit the area of ​​the Garden of Flowers and enjoy the incredible floral decoration that forms it.

Visit the Crazy House

Undoubtedly one of the most peculiar places of Da Lat and of all Vietnam. The Crazy House or Hang Nga. Built by the architect and designer Dang Viet Nga, the house is famous for its Gaudian style (inspired by the architect Gaudí) and for having combined its structure with natural elements. The entrance to the house is 50000 dong and you also have the option of staying in it.

Visit the Tuyen Lam Lake and the Truc Lam Pagoda

Located 14 km from the city and accessible either by road or by the famous cable car or Cable Car, the Truc Lam Pagoda offers an incredible visit to the mountains surrounding Da Lat and beautiful Lake Tuyen Lam.

Visit the Valley of Love

Known for being another of the most frequented spots by newly married couples, the Valle del Amor is located just over 5 km from the city. The main attraction is to take a boat ride along the shores of Lake Da Thien and admire the incredible views of the valley and the mountains of Lang Biang (the mountain of lovers).

Visit the Big Buddhas

The Great Happy Buddha or the Great Golden Buddha: Located in the surroundings of Da Lat we can visit its famous Big Buddhas. On the one hand we can visit the Linh An Pagoda and its famous Happy Giant Buddha or lucky with its characteristic white color. On the other hand you can visit the Van Hanh Pagoda and get to know its gigantic gold colored Buddha.

Visit the Pagoda of Linh Son

Located in the same city, the Pagoda of Linh Son stands out for its tower of almost 15 m in height and for its garden areas.
Visit the Cathedral of San Nicolás: Like many other destinations in the country, the Cathedral of San Nicolás shows us the French colonial past in the region. Built in 1942, the building stands out for its bell tower over 45 meters high.
 

Food in Da Lat

Dalat is famous for 'nem nướng', a roll-your-own spring roll made of thin sheets of rice paper filled with fresh herbs (including pearl leaf, sweet basil, chives, mint) and the grilled pork patty, then some ' chả ram bắp '(crispy, fried sweet corn and rice paper rolls), pickled radish, carrot, and shallots. The dish is served with thick peanut sauce. Like all the best Vietnamese dishes it's an excellent balance of textures, flavors and colors.

Nem Nuong

A must-try speciality in Dalat is "nem nướng". It is a fresh, roll-your-own spring roll. Fill thin sheets of rice paper with a variety of herbs (including pearl leaf, sweet basil, chives, mint), add the nem nướng (so-called grilled pork patty), then some chả ram bắp (crispy, fried sweet corn and rice paper rolls), pickled radish, carrot, and shallots, and roll it all up before dipping it in a thick, peanut sauce. You will be surprised at a brilliant balance of textures, flavors and colors.

Street food

Dalat is also an ideal spot for street food hunters. "Bánh tráng nướng" is a thin circle of rice paper with various 'toppings' on it that's grilled over coals until crispy: quail eggs, spring onions and tiny - almost tasteless - shrimp. Rice cakes grilled in little terracotta half dome molds, better known as "Bánh Căn", is tasty. Often a quail egg is broken inside, then the lids are put on until they cook through. Once unveiled, the two halves are united to form one light, fluffy ball of crisp goodness.

Bò kho (beef stew)

"Bò kho" (beef stew) is a hearty, spicy and aromatic broth with diced beef, carrot and lemongrass. "Bò kho" can be eaten on its own with a warm baguette for dunking or served over noodles, and is almost always accompanied by half a dozen types of fresh herb.

Vegetarian Restaurant

Da Lat is filled with lush flowers and thick with fresh fruits and vegetables. That is why you find a variety of delicious, colorful and fresh vegetarian dishes here.

Coffee shop

It is interesting to discover Da Lat, the city of love, through locals' drinks in addition to widely-known poetic landscapes. So-called "Coffee Street" located along Nguyen Chi Thanh street on the slope in Da Lat center has become a favorite spot for many tourists. On the street lies a series of coffee shops always crowded with customers days and nights. Due to the ideal position, Coffee Street has been visited by locals and travelers alike as they can both drink coffee and enjoy the sceneries and daily life activities here.

Climate in Da Lat

In Da Lat, the wet season is muggy and overcast, the dry season is partly cloudy, and it is comfortable year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 52°F to 80°F and is rarely below 47°F or above 84°F.

The best time of year to visit Da Lat for warm-weather activities is from mid February to late April.
